About The Lion King
Disney's The Lion King is one of the most successful and acclaimed musicals in Broadway history. Since premiering in 1997, Julie Taymor's groundbreaking production has captivated over 110 million people worldwide, winning six Tony Awards including Best Musical. It remains one of the highest-grossing entertainment titles of all time.
The show transforms the beloved animated film into a theatrical marvel through innovative puppetry, masks, and stagecraft. Taymor's vision brings the African savanna to life with life-sized animal puppets and stunning visual effects, while Elton John and Tim Rice's songs—"Circle of Life," "Hakuna Matata," "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"—soar in the hands of a powerful cast.
The Lion King is a theatrical experience unlike any other. From the breathtaking opening number to the triumphant finale, audiences of all ages are transported to the Pride Lands. Whether seeing it on Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre or on tour, The Lion King delivers an unforgettable journey of music, spectacle, and heart.
